We respect mother-nature and her cycles
we wait more than 10 years

The 100% of cork used to produce our stoppers comes from cork oaks of Sardinia.
According to existing laws, our cork only comes from oaks processed with 10 years interval, where first extraction is done once the tree has reached the circumference of 60 cm at the height of 130 cm.
The first extraction on a 10-years old oak provides the so-named “male cork”, a thin film with very small thickness that can only be used to produce granulated cork.
After 10 years, second extraction made on the same oak (which is 20 years old now!) gies the “cracked cork”, a layer with many cracks and fenditures. Once again, this material can be preferably used to produce cork granule and thin cork discs.
Only at the third extraction, 20 years after the first one, it is possible to extract cork of a right consistency and thickness. This is the right material to produce good cork stoppers!
Our care and constant quality research lead us to wait up to 12 years between an extraction and the following one. We get this way a more compact material, with physical characteristics better than the average standards.
